Festival Fetish

Parklife festival '11

Other than summer holidays, summer festivals are next big thing when it comes to owning that 'must-have' summer look. Which is why I'm very excited for the Parklife Festival taking place in Manchester this weekend! Having been once before, I got a good idea on what styles where hot and what i'll be aiming to go for this year. One minor issue? Well its based in Manchester, so the unpredictable weather has left me in a bit of a tizzy..after all I was relying on my Primark Parka last time!.

So I've decided to present to you my idea's for this summer's look. Last year I opted for a printed blouse, denim shorts, tights and knee high boots (which where soon binned after covering them in 10 inches of mud..). Day two consisted of a purple, tribe printed playsuit. This year however? Well I intend on wearing something different to before. Above is a jumper from River Island; the mixture of soft pastels creates that summer feeling as well as still being practical  for those chilly nights, teamed with denim shorts and sandels/wellies(both from River Island and Topshop) this look will create a summer vibe whilst still being durable and comfortable.

Not a shorts person? Fear not, for this seasons must have summer gowns have grown with the constant demand in summer maxi's and printed shift dresses. If like me, and you want to stand out from the crowd then opt for something printed, unique and fresh. This tasseled number is going for £20 in River Island and quite frankly whether its for a daytime festival or a night on the town, this dress is perfect. Its modest approach to looking sexy will ensure you that it's durable with a parka and wellies all day, and a pair of heels and a clutch at night.

If that doesn't take your fancy, then I suggest you opt for this printed number (below) from Topshop. The simple cut and bold prints ensure's a durable approach to styling up and styling down. As well as this, the design and cut itself will work with any type of figure as it wont cling to parts of your body. The cut out detail at the waist also gives off a playful approach to the look.

I view this summer's look as a way of experimenting and exploring different looks, I urge you all to step out of your winter look comfort zone and start opting for looks you never once thought you'd wear. After all, its a way of being able to express yourself!

Now where did I leave my debit card...
