Yes its that time of year again, where we begin to prowl the magazine stands for which celebrity looked hot and who was not.
After a lazy winter of warm cooked meals and minimal exercise, I alone am beginning to feel it all. So as part of my new health kick, I'm refusing to buy endless amounts of junk food and in fact trying to get myself to the gym a bit more. Now before you all say I'm conforming to the celebrity culture of excessive exercise and minimal meals, you're wrong. No, instead I am trying to get myself to feel and look healthier. Naturally I wont be striving to look skeletal or super toned; I'm just aiming to get my hips and stomach to little more defined, cant have a go at me for trying eh?
One thing I will not be sacrificing any time soon? (Well besides the obvious chocolate and alcohol regime...) is a nice cooked meal. Since The Boy and I have been seeing each other, we've been going out for lunches and dinner's non-stop. (Yes I cannot cook...) and as always, I opt for a vegetarian option, this can usually consist of fish or the latest discovery; Vegetarian Burgers! Couldn't believe how delicious they are!...and healthy..ish.
Anyway, when reading into the reports of Karl Lagerfeld publicly slating Adele for her weight, this got me thinking as to what it takes for the industry to accept you for who you are. I often wonder if, (and ever) I was recognised in the industry, would I too be a target for public scrutiny given I'm no size 0? Naturally I'll never reach that level of fame (or want to) but when looking into how certain celebrities dress and treat themselves in order to meet that level, often gets me thinking as to what they have that we aspire to be?
When seeing Adele model a gown similar to Carrie Underwood's, I thought they both equally pulled this gown off! They're figures each complement the shape and style, which can be proven tricky with these particular shapes. With Rhianna and Taraji P Hanson, both again wearing similar styles and still carrying them off well! In recent report's and images, Rhianna has appeared to have lost a lot of weight, in particular her torso as it has a more washboard approach. Taraji however opt's for an embellished halter neck, which still flatters her hips and bust without looking too showy.
Overall, In my opinion size does matter but in a positive way. With the worlds opinions changing every 5 minutes on what is the 'ideal' look, we haven't stopped to think that maybe bigger is better and healthier.
With retailers supplying size 16 plus ranges, this is just one the little steps we are taking to show you can look good in something.
No matter what size you are.
